Helping You Lead with Perspective

Is Coaching a luxury?

Is Coaching a luxury?

Thursday 4th April 2019

Are you an organisation that is in need of reorganisation? Desperate to upgrade management structure? But, there is something holding you back – budget? I am not sure about you, but when I highlight that I am a Business and Leadership Coach the responses are usually “wow, that sounds so interesting.” However, simultaneously, it appears to me that many individuals feel that it is a farfetched career and it comes across as a luxury element to business structures.

The UK has had a slow up take, compared to our counterparts in the US, where coaching is recognised, mainly with larger corporations with large Learning and Development budgets., and SME’s may start using coaches, but scale back when other priorities such as time, availability, relevance and an assumed “I am fine” approach can hold a business back in a variety of developmental ways, which in the long run can be detrimental to the business in the long run.

Consultations usually last for approximately an hour, similar to the ones delivered by Core Beginnings, which are recommended. The consultation provides insight for businesses and a coaching organisation can clearly meet, with a bespoke programme, the delivery model of a coaching programme.

Forbes Contributor and Leadership Strategist, Karen Higginbottom makes a key observation in the development and interest that is growing in the UK across a range of business. Higginbottom introduces her report following a researched survey; “An overwhelming majority of U.K. workers believe that coaching should be part of every business’s management and development program, according to research published by City and Guilds Group.

The survey of more than 1,000 professionals revealed that 76% of employees believe coaching is helpful when going through periods of organizational change and 79% say it’s useful for adopting new technologies and ways of working”.

In conclusion, it is important to recognise the needs of both your employees and also your business. Get in touch to see how we can assist you.
